Road Map for September: Freshmen

Welcome to high school Class of 2030! Freshman year is the beginning of an exciting new chapter, and your most important goal right now is to make a smooth transition and build a strong foundation for the years ahead.

Start by getting comfortable with your new classes and routines. High school usually brings increased academic expectations, so stay organized, keep track of assignments, and get to know your teachers. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or seek help when you need it—teachers, counselors, older students, and other adults at school can all be great sources of support.

This is also a perfect time to explore. Try out some clubs, sports, or other activities and see what interests you. Don’t worry for now about building a college résumé; instead, focus on finding things you genuinely enjoy and want to continue.

Finally, think about a few goals for freshman year, both academic and personal. Most importantly, give yourself time to adjust. You have four years ahead of you, and right now the best preparation for college is simply making the most of your high school experience.
