05 Aug Road Map for August: Class of 2028
I hope you’ve been enjoying your summer and moving forward on your summer goals. If you’ve been reading this newsletter regularly, you may already be working on creating a résumé or developing your standardized testing plan. Now it’s time to take stock and see what you’ve accomplished, what you might still be able to complete before school starts, and what your new goals might be for the fall.
With junior year just around the corner, these last weeks of summer are a window to take care of a few important college planning tasks before school starts and you get busy again. If you haven’t visited any colleges yet, try to fit that in before the end of your break. Colleges will be back in session before you start school, giving you the chance to see campuses while students are attending classes and participating in campus life. As you visit, pay attention to what feels like a good fit and the criteria that will matter most to you as you begin building your college list. You should also review your school calendar now and identify teacher workdays and administrative days, which are perfect opportunities to visit campuses during the fall without missing your own classes.
Finally, prepare yourself for a successful start to school. Finish your summer assignments, adjust your sleep schedule, and think about what worked well during sophomore year, and where there’s room for improvement. Junior year can, and should, be challenging, but with planning and good habits, you’ll be ready to make the most of every opportunity.
