Back-to-School Road Map: Juniors

Are you ready for junior year? You have a busy time coming up and planning ahead can make it go more smoothly. Check out this Facebook Live chat with time management expert Laura Vanderkam for some valuable tips. I use a lot of them myself!

If you’re in the DC area, I hope you’ll save the date for my event, College Admissions: A Road Map for 11th and 12th Grade Students on September 19 at the Hill Center.  This is a great overview of the college search and admission process as you gear up for standardized tests, college fairs and visits, and look ahead to preparing strong applications and essays.

Now is also the perfect time of year to update your resume with your summer activities.  While you’re doing that, take the opportunity to reflect on the last few months and those ahead of you.  What are your goals for the fall, and how do you plan to meet them?  Consider academics of course, but be sure to think beyond school and include other things that are important to you.

Looking ahead a bit, you’ll probably be taking the PSAT on October 16, with scores released in early December.  I recommend taking a practice ACT as well so you can choose your test and plan your prep.  For more guidance, contact me or save the date for my November 24 talk on standardized testing.  And while you’re adding events to your calendar, make a note of dates throughout the year that you can use for college visits.
