Road Map for June: Class of 2019

As the school year ends, take a break before refocusing and getting started on your college applications.  Most students will complete the Common Application, and many should also complete the Coalition Application as well; it’s required for a few schools, including the University of Maryland, and will be the best choice for some students applying to colleges that are not Common App members.  And if you haven’t already contacted teachers about letters of recommendation, checking now gives them the opportunity to write them during the summer.

I recommend students do the bulk of the work on their application essays this summer to reduce the workload in the fall.  I offer a college essay workshop every summer, and this year I’m excited to be partnering with my colleague Ethan Sawyer, also known as the College Essay Guy.  The event will be on July 14 at the Hill Center.
