19 Sep Road Map for September: Sophomores
I hope you’ve been settling into the new school year and enjoying your classes and activities. I always recommend that students explore new high-school level opportunities in 9th grade and start to focus a little more in 10th. For example, you might have checked out some clubs last year, and probably found some of them more interesting than others. This year you can start to be a little more selective and focus on the things that interest you more. Over the rest of your high school experience you’ll continue to increase your level of commitment to the things you care about and enjoy, and perhaps get involved in leadership positions or other more prominent roles.
I also like to see students setting goals at this time of year, so think about what you might like to accomplish academically and personally in 10th grade. Then make a plan for how you will achieve these goals and what milestones to aim for along the way. It may also help to share your goals with a friend, family member, or mentor who can help keep you accountable and motivated.
