13 Oct Road Map for October: Freshmen
Now that we’re a couple months into the school year, I hope you are settling into the routines and expectations of high school. The most important thing to do in 9th grade is to lay the foundation for a successful high school experience. Keep in mind that no one expects you to have it all figured out. One of the most important things to be aware of is when you need help and where to get it. Are you connecting with your teachers and building relationships? They should be the first people you go to if you need any kind of academic support.
In addition to getting comfortable with high school academics, I like to see 9th graders finding other ways to engage at school. Are you playing sports or joining clubs? There are usually more options available in high school than you had in middle school, so this is a time to explore. Try out a few things, with the understanding that you might not stick with all of them.
