Road Map for June: Seniors

Congratulations, Class of 2026! As you sign yearbooks, attend ceremonies and parties, and say goodbye to teachers and classmates, this is a moment to celebrate. Take time to appreciate everything you have accomplished, and especially the people who helped you get here.

There are also a few practical tasks to attend to as you wrap up high school. Check your school email account and save anything you may want to keep before your access is ended. Update any accounts that use your school email address, and when your grades are final, confirm that your transcript has been sent to your college. Be sure to stay on top of any enrollment tasks from your future school as well, including housing forms, orientation registration, course selection, health records, and financial aid requirements.

Over the summer, begin thinking about how you want to approach this next chapter. You’re also saying goodbye to the routines that have shaped your life for the past four years, and with the new independence and responsibility college offers, you’ll want to establish new ones. You know the importance of getting enough sleep, exercising, and taking care of your mental health, so learn about the resources available on campus and don’t hesitate to use them.  And since you’ll typically have more open time in college, managing it wisely will be important.  Make note of professors’ office hours (and plan to use them) as well as the procedures for campus writing and tutoring centers.  All of these resources are there to help you succeed.

Most importantly, remember that transitions take time. It’s normal to feel excited, nervous and uncertain. If you don’t find your people immediately or encounter challenges in a class, it doesn’t mean you made the wrong choice. Give yourself some space as you adjust and grow.

It has been a privilege to work with so many members of the Class of 2026. I wish you success, happiness, and adventure in the years ahead. Please keep in touch—I’d love to hear where your journey takes you next.
