05 Jul Road Map for July: Class of 2027
Summer is the perfect time to pause and take stock of your high school journey so far, and start planning for what’s ahead. One of the best ways to do this is to create or update your résumé. Include everything you spend time on outside of your classes: clubs, sports, community service, paid work, family responsibilities, and hobbies. Not only can this résumé help you land a job or internship, it’s also a great foundation for the activities section of your college applications next year. Plus, when you’re ready to ask teachers or your counselor for letters of recommendation, they’ll appreciate having a résumé/brag sheet to see the bigger picture of your interests and accomplishments.
My most important recommendation for the Class of ’27, however, is to get your standardized testing plan in place. You can compare your practice SAT and ACT scores here, choose your test dates, and consider summer prep. For additional guidance in choosing the best test for you and planning your calendar, you can contact me here.
Finally, keep in mind that the more you prepare now—by building your résumé and planning ahead for testing and campus visits—the smoother your application process will be next year. Future you will be glad you did!
