Road Map for December: Sophomores

Thanks to those of you who joined me in December for my webinar on standardized testing and test-optional admissions. If you missed it you can watch the recording here. I’ll be revisiting this issue for sophomores toward the end of the school year, since students may want to consider test prep next summer when they have more time than they do when school is in session.

While we’re planning ahead, this is also a time to set goals for next year, whether you call them resolutions or something else. What do you want to accomplish in 2024? Make a list of personal and academic goals, and then list the steps you’ll take to meet them.  Next, share the goals with a friend or family member, since having that accountability increases your likelihood of success.  Even better, can you find ways to make that person part of your plan? For example, if your goal is to walk 10,000 steps a day, schedule walks together. If your goal is to complete all of your assignments for school on time, set up study dates a couple times a week. Whether the person has a similar goal or just wants to support you in yours, having a partner in the effort can make you more likely to complete it.
