Road Map for December: Juniors

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family time and time for yourself to refresh and recharge for this next stretch until winter break. In addition to holiday decorations and ubiquitous holiday music, December also brings PSAT scores. If you’ve already taken a practice ACT and made your testing plan, you’re in good shape. If not, then that’s your next to-do item.  Choose your test based on your diagnostic scores, and then choose your test dates, taking into consideration the other commitments you have at different times of year. And remember that my goal, if at all possible, is to have students done with testing by the time school starts senior year.  You’ll be much better off if this piece is off your plate when you’re working on applications and essays, on top of your normal load of homework and extracurricular activities.

Although I sometimes start working with students earlier than this, the arrival of PSAT scores is often the kick-off for juniors of their college search and application process. In the next few weeks I’ll be working with the Class of 2024 on campus visit planning, senior year course selection and summer activities. If you’re interested in working with me one-on-one on a comprehensive or hourly basis, I hope you’ll get in touch.
