17 Jul Road Map for July: Class of 2021
Now is the perfect time to update your resume with your 10th grade and summer activities. Not only can you use your resume for a job search, but it can also be a great starting point for the activities section on college applications when you’re ready to work on them later. Next spring when you’re requesting letters of recommendation, your teachers and school counselor may also want to look at your resume to get a broader picture of your interests and accomplishments.
Have you blocked out your college visit dates for the school year? If not, check your school calendar for days you’re off that aren’t holidays, when colleges will be open. (I’ve posted Google calendars on my website for several DC-area schools and districts.) Some of these days might come at the end of the summer, a terrific time to do tours. Students will be coming back from break and jumping into campus life, and you can get a great impression of what that feels like at each school.
