Road Map for January: Sophomores

Even without all the unique challenges of this year, January can put students in a rut when the weather is cold and the days are short. Yet this is actually a great time to start planning your summer. I’m optimistic that we’ll see a lot of aspects of life return to normal once we get past the tough public health period we’re in right now, so think about what you’ve missed over the last year and what you’d like to do once school is out. Could you get a job or internship? Can you make a spring or summer college tour into a gathering with friends? Will you take a class, play sports, volunteer or travel? In addition to getting a plan in place, there’s another benefit: studies show that anticipation of future fun can give you an emotional boost now.
