Road Map for January: Freshmen

We’re almost at the halfway point in the school year, a great time to reflect on how things are going. Set yourself up for success for the rest of the year by identifying how you learn best, whether it’s through hands-on projects, group study sessions, or meeting with teachers for feedback. If you’re not already involved in activities, consider joining a club, trying a new hobby, or volunteering to explore your interests. With the MLK Day of Service coming up, you can give back to your community while learning about causes that matter to you. Check out local opportunities to get involved!

You’ll also be choosing your 10th-grade courses soon. Think about the subjects you’ve enjoyed and excelled in this year and use this as an opportunity to explore your academic interests more deeply or try something new. Colleges value academic rigor, but it’s also important to maintain a healthy balance. Aim for a schedule that challenges you without becoming overwhelming, and that allows time for meaningful activities in addition to your coursework.
