Road Map for June: Class of 2018

Happy graduation!! I hope you’re enjoying fun celebrations with family and friends. It’s a wonderful time to reflect on both your past and your future, even though it may be bittersweet, especially for parents.

As you go through your summer to-do list, check with your school counselor about the schedule for sending your final report, and follow up with your college to be sure it arrives.  There also might be summer reading, either required or recommended, for incoming freshmen.  If your college has not recommended anything, here’s a list of ideas.  (And here’s a list for parents too.)

Your final arrangements for college might also include contacting your roommate and shopping for your dorm room.  Grown and Flown offers this list of items you don’t need to spring for.  If you’d like to support a student who might not be able to afford basic dorm needs, check out Grown and Flown’s Move in Moms program, The Freshman Fifteen, or DC’s Horton’s Kids program.

This is my last message to the Class of ’18.  I’ve loved working with many of you and hope you will keep in touch and let me know about the exciting things that lie ahead for you.  Best of luck!!
